It's done all the time with rubberized undercoat. Make sure you tape everything off and clean them up real good before you do it!

just clean the fronts really really good, and they will shine better then new.. and rubberized undercoating works great on the rear

I don't care for the rough look of the rubberized coating. I bought some of the Krylon Fusion paint for plastic and it does a great job of holding onto plastic. The only drawback is the limited colors but gloss black works well. Clean them up good with acetone or a degreaser and mask everything off and start painting.

Any auto parts store will have the rubberdized coating, and walmart for black spray paint.

I just spray paint flat black every year after storage. Just make sure to tape off your fenders so no overspray gets on it.

I used the underbody spray. Whose going to inspect wheel wells too closely anyway?

The reason for the truck bed liner is that its though and wont crack or chip plus its easy to clean.

Try duplicolor truck bed liner. Works great and leaves a smooth finish that looks like the rough surface of undercoat but cleans up really well and is smooth to the touch.
