Default SS Hood

I'm looking to get a SS hood for my car and have been searching on here for days trying to get info on what kind to get. OEM is out of the question, I don't want to spend $800 or more on a hood alone. I was looking on ebay and came across this auction: SS Hood . Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this seller or this particular hood. Feedback looks pretty good at 99.5% positive. I'm also open to any other suggestions on a SS hood around the $500 price mark. TIA!

Its gonna be pretty hard to get the hood, prep and paint for around the $500 mark. My suggestion, look for a used hood in your area. It sucks because sometimes you have to wait a long time to get exactly what you want.. but it can save you some $$ and the agrivation of trying to prep a poor quality aftermarket repo. I've heard some horror stories from cheap repos before and build quality.
If you do go with that ebay Seller.. make sure you hear from someone who's bought the same hood from him before. Not that his product is bad.. but you know what they say "Buyer beware"

No no Im just looking for a hood around the $500 mark. I have someone who will prep and paint the hood for dirt cheap.

I'm going to bump this once and add to my original post. Does anyone have any suggestions on a decent fitting aftermarket SS hood?

The ebay hood looks like its fits well in the pictures, but I probably wouldn't buy a hood for my car that only costs $300. In my experience, you get what you pay for. I have seen some awful fitting hoods. If you won't go above $500 then make sure you talk to several people that have bought that same hood like corvettekid said. If it were my car, I would save the money and get it from SLP.

Ask him what company it came from. I believe SLP is the only "real" SS hood...but I could be dead wrong. Someone who knows better than I could chime in here...

keep an eye out in the for sale section here. MOST of the people selling are honest enough that they'll tell you whether or not it's an oem hood.

Don't OEM SS hoods have a stamp at the bottom?

Default slp is an aftermarket company!

There is no such thing as a gm ss hood! They were all made by slp an outside company. And o for that matter there has never been a gm produced ss. chevy made camaro and camaro z28. ss was an option package that came threw slp an aftermarket company!

This is an underside pic of an SS hood that I was considering buying from another member on here. He claims that this is the "SLP number stamped onto the hood".
