wax or polish by hand?

Default wax or polish by hand?

is it better to apply wax and polish by hand to avoid light scratches/swirl marks etc.? thanks

An abrasive or cleaner polish will usually be more effective with a machine.

Most prefer to wax/seal by hand. As long as you're using quality applicators, etc., it's really just personal preference.

If using a compound or a polish it works best to use a machine. I personally use a machine for polishing, but prefer to then wax by hand.

Never heard of that being effective. Porter cable + quality pads + good polish and you're set For waxing, as stated before, if you're using a quality applicator, it's up to you. However, a few very heavy waxes do need to be applied with a PC such as the heavy duty (forgot the name of it, it's black) wax from Adams.

That works too. Some waxes are meant to be melted by the gentle heat of your hands when applying.

Just don't buff it off with your hand!
