Test Shoot: Cats and Dogs... and Goats!?
It was raining cats and dogs this morning but I wanted to try a few things so I took the Goat out for a few pictures. Obviously I didn't have the best lighting and the car was literally filthy (I wiped the wheels off real quick with a microfiber towel because they had heavy dirt buildup on them from all the rain the past few days).
I personally prefer pictures that are a bit darker and with more contrast but from a technical standpoint they are underexposed slightly, the blacks and darks are a bit crushed, and the contrast is a bit heavy and unnatural. I wanted to take a few pictures to play around with different camera settings and editing techniques to get more "photographically correct" end results. I can say that I still prefer my darker, more dramatic style for most situations but these didn't come out too bad.
For comparison...
A few examples of the darker style:

I agree 100% with you! I went to photograohy school for 3 years and have been in the business for 4 years, and some of the finest most dramatic award winning shots that I have ever seen are so far from "fundamentaly correct" that my instructor would have hung me from my ***** if I had tried anything like that! But to me, a half-stop underexposed and ***** out contrast is just perfect for cars. Sometimes all you need is a small kicker flash in the shadows, and it comes out perfect!
#4 is just the **** to me man! I love it!
