Default carbon fiber hood?

my car has a carbon fiber RK Sport grill in it and i was wanted to do some other exterior mods, but wanted a pretty continuous theme.....

so i was thinkin, i'd like to put a "manta" stripe down my hood, and although black would be the obvious choice, it didn't sit right with me...

so the poll question is:

should a buy a OEM style carbon fiber SS hood, paint it SOM to match the car, but leave the ram-air scoop unpainted (cleared over of course) carbon fiber to match the grill?

Perhaps I'm biased, but I think the idea sounds pretty good!

I guess I'll start thinking about that carbon Fiber grille.... do they sell one that doesn't say "RKsport" on it?

my only concern, is that my car looks good now, at least good to me. i don't know if a stripe would ruin it or not. imho, it would look badass, but would the car as a whole still look good?

i'd like to see a SOM SS with a black stripe just to see....i know there's one on Speed Inc.'s site, but not really any good pictures....i'll have to search around some more....

yeah after paint i'll have almost $1K in just the damn hood...but i'm starting to think it would look really good...but $1K worth of good?

anybody know what makes a good quality CF SS hood? one that uses stock hinges/latches, doesn't require pins, and doesn't have any gawdy vents or extra scoops? ebay hasn't produced much...

i dunno if you read my sig....lol, it's not stock, granted there are other parts i'd like to get on there, but i haven't done any aesthetic mods lately. all it's got are Z06 wheels with drilled and slotted rotors, the carbon fiber grille, and a little tint of the windows.

either way, i just got a new job that pays awsome, so money won't be as tight as it has been. i'm about to order a clutch, but after that, i dunno what's next.

If you're not looking for weight savings, then an RKsport hood with the carbon fiber blister would probably be the best bet. I was told I didn't need pins, but I wasn't taking any chances.

I'll search around, but I've got some pics of an SOM SS with the black manta from G10, and it looked awesome...

HA! You read my damn mind...I was just talking to my friend a few weeks ago about this. I wanted to paint the entire hood black except the scoop and then clearcoat the entire thing. DO IT, and send me some pics because I'm next in line!

lol....i need a 90/90 setup and a clutch first i've decided. plus i'm scared i'm gonna ruin the look of the car. if it were ANY other color besides SOM, i'd have done it by now.

IF i do it, rest assured, there WILL be pics all over the place

I know this thread is a couple of months old, but if you plan on doing this don't buy the RK Sport hood. I have it and it is the one with the carbon fiber scoop. The fit is terrible and the fiberglass is cracking. So I would say go with a different one.
