No, you can cut off those tabs and use 3M double sided tape to put them on your car. Which one did you purchase, the 69 Z/28 tail pan emblem or fender emblems? The tail pan emblem is flat and the fender emblem is coutoured. Either way, you will have to bend it slightly to fit the contour of your fenders if that is where you plan to put them.

Going to order mine tonight probably, comes with both fender emblems, grill emblem and tail emblem, not sure how it is all going to fit but I will figure something out I guess.
