Sounds about right to me. But what type of acid. I did as said above but used dawn but I know acid will help more with the water spots. I'd be afraid of marring the paint or my skin though.

Here are a few helpful links with how tos:

http://www.carbrite.com/servlet/com....pot%20Removers
http://www.carbrite.com/servlet/net..../4470A&lb=none

I have been using these products and steps for years and have had no problems. Check with a detail shop or car dealer detail person to get you in contact with a distributor.
Hope any of this helps you!

safest way to do it is wash it with dawn.

when you go to polish the paint, and leftover product will be removed by the polish.

I am not a fan of acid washing .. there are safer ways to proceed.

Hot water helps to strip wax too. The best formula is the hottest water that you can put you hand into and Ultra Dawn. Remember not to wash it in the sun, wash each section multiple times and rinse as you go. Good Luck!

If you're going to use any kind of polish before you wax, that will strip your wax off.

Use a liquid soap like Dawn. It'll strip the wax right off.

Personally I'm not a fan of using Dawn for prepping the paint for the new protection.

We recommend using car wash concentrate to remove the heavy dirt from the surface. Rinse after washing and we suggest the use of a clay bar to prep the paint which removes all surface contaminants including rail dust, tree sap, paint over spray, bugs, tar and old wax. Rinse after finishing with the clay bar. Now you can see if you need to address removal of any light scratches and swirl marks/holograms.

To insure you have all oils and residues removed from the surface before appling your glaze, wax, or sealant, swab the surface down with a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water using a clean microfiber towel. This will give you an excellent base for the last step product and provide for longer lasting protection.

Perfect advice. Using Dawn to clean your car is pretty much pointless. If you want, use a wax/grease remover on the paint and wipe it off. Other than that, the whole Dawn wash thing is unnesecary.
