Default Make your own clear lenses...

Hey everyone. I stumbled upon this site and it had a tutorial on making custom clear lenses for parking lights or whatever you want. Thought it might be interesting to post up.

Its a link to another site...but its just info on performing the job, it doesnt sell anything so it should be ok. I might use this to make clear front turn signals for my 87 TA.

Not sure why... Should work fine.

I just thought if anyone has a lens that they cant find in clear this would really come in handy. 1) because you can make something unique and 2) because if you cant find it for your application, chances are there are others with the same application that cant find a store bought solution. Might be able to make a few bucks if you can do it well enough.

Im not sure... Depends on how clear that casting stuff sets up I guess. Maybe after the casting it can be polished to make it super clear??

I have an 87...so I have the 6054 headlights. I have conversion housings on it now, and I feel that I have enough space to fit a projector behind the lens. But no one makes clear front marker/turn signal lights for the thirdgen firebirds. Ive seen some people cut up stock lights from another car, but it would be ten times better to make replicas of the originals only clear.

Seems like its quite a big of work to make the pieces, but like I said, if there is no other solution, might be worth it.

i made my own clear corners once. but that was when they sold for 40-50 bucks
now they sell for 15-20 so no need to go ghetto.

Ok...what about those people with applications that you cant find in the stores??? Thats the point of this. I cant get clear lenses for my front turn signals. So this would be a great NON ghetto approach to having some. Dont see whats so ghetto about it... No different than fiberglassing your own parts or fabricating things like crossmembers.

Arent there some 4th gen camaro guys that wanted clear lenses for their front end that arent offered?? I thought you could only get one of them in clear...

Oh well...its still a neat process to know.

Yeah I'm curious to see this too. I was thinking about possibly making the headlight covers clear as well.
