Default TT2 polishing. The lip is so easy, but spokes....

Ive tried a ton of different cleaners and polishes, (turtlewax, mcguires, mothers, etc.) on my TT2s but nothing works on the spokes. The lip is very easy to get to a chrome like finish, but the spokes are dull and water spotted and nothing cleans them up like they should be... Any suggestions?

Ive searched and searched and everyone says to just try mcguires, mothers or even wenol, but does everyone have the same problem with the spokes?

I just tried the American Racing polish wad and their wheel wax, and I'd say it's better than Mother's and McGuire's. My spokes were never "chrome-like" polished to begin with, not like the lips anyways, but the AR wadding works great at removing spots and blemishes. I got their polish and wax combo for around $25 shipped.

The lips are billet and the centers are cast. Two different properties of aluminum, therefore they will have a different finish when polished.

Agreed. It all makes sense now. No wonder painting / poweder coating the spokes is such a popular option.

I might try some rouge and a couple felt pads on the dremel when ive got a day to kill. That might muscle it into a shine.

I feel your pain. I worked on my TT2 spending both time and money and in the end I was disappointed. Check this thread I started.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/66893-b1-cam.html

I also noticed a small difference after all of the hours of work which I put into them. You can read up on my procedure in the thread. I don't think my camera could capture the difference between the "before and after" shots but after polishing I noticed a small amount of "depth" was added to the wheel but the deep luster that I was striving to achieve didn't come through. If you find anything that works let us all know.
