Default How do you take doorpanel bulbs out!

Yes im serous, there weird looking, how the f' do you take them off! when i bought my car both of them don't work, so either the guy that had the car fried em or they just burnt out, least thats what im hoping for. They have a little grey clip around it that i removed and still nothing, it looks to be 1 piece as to were you cannot take the bulb it self out. were do i get a replacement for these i have yet to find them and i would like my little square red lights by my door handles working again. Thanks.

Remove the one screw holding the door handle bezel in place. Remove the plactic cover on the door lock. Remove the bezel and turn it where you can see the socket going to it and just turn it so you can remove it off the bezel. Once you do that you just pull the bulb out and replace it.

This is how I remember doing mine and I don't remember there being any special trick to pulling the bulb out.

lol ive tried to pull that **** out! it wont come out. i tried pushing it down and turning it, pulling, pulling harder enough pressure on that damn thing that i thought i was gonna break the glass on the bulb it self. which is why i said i think its one piece but if you guys say its not then i guess ill get something to yank it out with.

I know it's an old thread but I see the same question asked over and over again. I know how do get to the bulb.....just can get the bulb out of the socket. Pull or twist..... all the other threads just explain how to get to the bulb not remove.

I just replaced those with LEDs today. I struggled for about an hr trying to get them out. Eventually I decided to use a pair of pliers with a piece of cloth inbetween. This broke the bulb as I figured it prob would. The good news is that I could just pull on the filament/intterror of the bulb with the needle nose pliars and it came right out. I did this for both the handles and the shifter bulb. I know its not the best way to do it, but they were all burnt out anyway and it works. Just make sure that you have something around the bulb to catch the glass when it breaks.

I used a set of spark plug pliers. I got one side out in one piece. The other side shatered. I used a set of needle nose to pull out the pieces. Other than the mess with the the broken glass......it was easy to pull out. Thanks for the help.

Glad it all worked out for you Ryan. Just run a shop vac in the inside of the car. I missed a little piece and managed to find it in my thumb the next time I got in the car. Haha its all clean and glass free now.

i got them out the first time and it was 3 oclock in the morning so I put them back till autozone opened. At autozone they both go POP!... oh well.. Looks really cool but it isnt really functional since they dont light up much. Previous owner didnt know they had them either. So that means it hasnt bad bulbs in over 6 years....

I break every bulb I cant get out and use those medical clamps to get them out. Works great and is very time freeing.

I picked up some single WLED bulbs to replace those bulbs. It lights up that whole door handle area as opposed to what those dim little bulbs did.

Shatter them sons of guns and pull them out with pliers.

Easiest and least stressful.

I still don't know why the switches don't light up. Heck my old 93 taurus had light up switches. I just decided not to bother messing with those little bulbs.
