Default Polished my MAF & TB... added some stuff. *PICS*

I re-polished my MAF and TB tonight, replaced the stock bolts w/ polished button heads, got the hazy clear coat off my radiator shroud, put the newly re-designed SLP lid on (injection molded, tighter fit, and not supposed to rub) and the SLP smooth bellow I've still gotta polish up the ac condenser and throw a coat of wax on the engine bay. I'm taking off the decals on my stainless covers and replacing them w/ etching. I'm also gonna make some polished stainless strips to cover the "corvette" on the frc's and etch CAMARO in them. Oh yeah, and replace some hex head bolts w/ polished button heads... whata' ya think?

Damn, that sucks. My throttle cable isn't hooked up either, maybe that's why my car wouldn't run...

Basically, I just use a dremle w/ a carbide grinding bit to knock down all the casting marks. Wet sand it to get it as smooth as possible. Hit it with an aggressive buffing compound and a 6" buffing wheel, then the same thing w/ a finishing compound. It takes a long time but looks great in the end!

Looks great man, i was just wondering myself how you got it to shine like that. Bc i've looked at my TB and it has that weird texture on it so i figured it prob couldn't be polished to a mirror shine.

That looks awesome, I gotta do that. One question though...if you don't put clear or some kind of protector on top of the polished surface will it start to pit and/or get dull after a little while?

It will definitely get dull because it's aluminum. They sell sealers like "Zoop Seal" but it's really expensive and I'd just rather re polish every couple of months. But all the covers you see in my engine bay never get dull because they're made of stainless steel

They're just the stock stainless clamps that I hit w/ the buffing wheel

Hey toofazt I was wondering if you could help me out...
I got an SLP lid and when I tried to get the maf inside the lid it looked bigger than the hole, I had to use a rubber hose to slide over the lid and then slide over the maf but it looks horrible. Did your maf look like it was bigger than the hole in the lid?

As far as I know I have a stock maf and it should have fit without rigging up some ugly hose

Basically did you do any kind of grinding to the inside of the lid because I dont see any other way to get it in the hole...maybe some lube would be a good idea....hmmm

Thanks man.
