Default How to mount an SS decal on a billet grill?

Need ideas on how to mount an SS decal on a high polished billet grill. The decals that Im referring to are the same ones that come on the Camaro SS. (fenders, rear-above the bumper) I really dont feel comfortable just sticking up there with the adhesive on the backside of the decal to a bunch of bars. If you have any ideas or have performed this, please post some close-up pics, thanks.

Don't underestimate the adhesive ability of the SS emblems. I was a bit concerned like you are, when I put them on my Stull Billet grill 3 years ago...3 years (and hundreds of washes and waxes) later, the emblems are still as strongly fixed as they were the day I installed them. Just make sure to clean the grill and dry it very well before attaching them. Trust me...they'll stay.

BTW...there may be a few pics of the grill on my website: www.ebbsnflows.cz28.com

I would be leary of it too. If you're still worried after Ebbsnflows experience, I have an idea.

Maybe epoxy a bolt or two to the rear in a place where it could slip between the bars, with a large washer, then a nut on the back, should work great. Just a thought.

are the SS logo's that you are applying the same material as on the fenders/bumper?
If so it should stay, if they are metal logo's, let me know where u got it, and how much =)
then I'll have someone weld it on for me=)

The ones that Im applying are the same ones on the fenders. I just tried putting them on the grill, and Im not too happy the way it came out. There is really no flat surface other than the bars to stick to. It will only come in contact with 2 bars and that isnt enough. You can tell that they have been slapped on. I really need another alternative. The surface of the decals where it isnt sticking is bending and doesnt look right. I thought about buying the laser cut stainless steel ones that are out there, but I think they are about the same size. Any one have any other suggestions. I thought about the '69 emblem, but how do you mount that particular one on the grill? Thanks

try to make a backing plate out of metal that is cut to the emblem and then use bolts to secure it through to the other side with large washers as dogofwar stated. just a thought

Why didn't you just buy a 69 SS badge from Year One or National Parts Depot?

If you don't like the color of the "SS", paint it.

Well youre recommending me the '69 SS emblem and then LS1 SS is recommending me the '67 SS emblem. What is the difference between the two? As far as what it looks like, I dont think it matters because Im going to stick the SS decals over it. I do however want a chrome background, do either of the two have chrome on them? Thanks

My bad, get the 67SS badges. It's been awhile since I did this mod.

Oh I didnt know that you made a mistake. I was just wondering what the difference between the '67 and '69 SS emblems were? Do either one of them have chrome on them? Do you have pics of the both them? Is one more expensive than the other? Where can I find both of these emblems? What are they made of? I know that they didnt make thse emblems to mount on billet grills for '98-'02 models, so how are you guys mounting them? Thanks

I look on National Parts Depot's website and I found nothing. I went to Year One's website, and I found 4 part numbers that might work. (RU1129, 924N, RU1211, and 8323N. All of the pics look the same. Do any of you have any of these part numbers? If so, could you post a pic of it? Thanks

I got the 68 SS emblem from Classic Industries. The 68 has a slight bend ot it unlike the 69 which is flatter. The bend allows it to fit the contours of your grill better. I made a bracket at work to mount mine. I don't trust addhesives or epoxy at high speeds.

Does Classic Industries have a website? Was your emblem for the grill? If so, doesnt the grill emblems have a backing for it to be mounted? If so, will it have to be modified to fit on the billet grill or does it work? I want to make sure that I order the right one. Thanks
