Default Cloth top

I was walking out to my SS this morning when I noticed that all the condensation on the roof and sail panel gave a convertable cloth texture. Honestly, I think it looked really good.

Has anyone made their hardtop 4th gen camaro into a cloth top?

I imagine that it would probably only look good on a black camaro. It wouldn't fit a T/A too well and any color other than black would be extremely hard to match.

why not just buy a vert? You get the soft top look plus it folds down!

Well, lets see.

1- Because this would be a smooth shape and not the camping tent look that a vert gives.
2- Originality
3- The comforts of a hardtop concerning climate
4- I have a hardtop and reguardless of what I wanted this is what I have. I work two jobs to keep it and don't have the time or money to start car hunting again.

You want to give a F-body a Presidential package?

Didn't the second gens have that option? The difference here is, the roofs are already well defined on our cars due to the lack of connection with the rest of the body.

Also, I'm not talking tye-dye or plad; just black on black.

I don't remember that. I know some other Late 60's - Early 70's muscle cars had vynl tops.

i'm not hating, but doing something just for the sake of being different is not necessarilly good. the cloth top on a non-vert is a good example.

It looks stupid and weird. My neighbor's wife has a 93-95 V6 that's red and has the fake vert top. It's different looking but not in a good way. I haven't seen it up close to know what it looks like in terms of actual fitment. Maybe I'll try and stop over and get some pics.

Need pics!

I'd say no, don't do it.
300C, or Lincoln Towncar, or something like those, but not an F-body.

I have seen one, It was painted metalflake green with a tan vynal top, It also had gold 13" wire wheels that stuck WAYY outside the fenders.

Wow, you went a ways back to dig up this thread if you don't even like the idea that it discusses.

Regardless, ya'll are apparently thinking that I mean a beige or red top, but I was really just meaning a black that would make it appear satin, or flat black. Heck even just painting the top satin or flat.

painting the top satin black isnt too bad of an idea if it's bubbling or something, but if it's a regular black top and it's not messed up it looks good enough not to mess with. lol

Wow, that was cute... you are in elementary school, right?

He didn't insult you, he just stated that he had seen it done on an overly mexican-ized car. Or is the point here that he was talking about your metalflaked, gold wire wheeled, cloth topped car, and that's why you jumped on him? Just curious... lol.

I think there were some third gens.... maybe the Berlinetta Camaro that had it...

and come to think of it.... a friend of mine use to have a 2nd gen Camaro with one....

but I still wouldn't do it to a fourth gen.
