Default Side trimming question

Hey, I'm about to go out and remove the side trimming from my Formula, question is what are the tools aside from a heat gun that I need and can anyone give me a few quick tips on how to do this without hurting the paint?

Use some fishing line to help cut the double sided tape, goo gone for the residue, just take your time and don't get the paint too hot

goo gone it is! I got the trim itself off took me a few hours. . .cleaned most of the residue off with good ol water and a soft shammy - tommorrow i'll wash the car and go get some goo gone to get the rest of the line off! - Also I'll post up some pictures of the final product! - it looks pretty nice. . .

i knew somebody who did that and ended up ripping off the clearcoat underneath.

use a heat gun, along with fishing line or something along those lines. take your time and use goo-gone/lighter fluid when you're finished.

im curious how often this happens. i've seen a car that did the !molding and had a problem with the clear. i wonder how often this is because the car was repainted and people say the clear ripped off
