Default Double-Din Nav and DVD player CUSTOM!

I spent most of the day working on this. I installed an Avic-D3 pioneer headunit. It has an awesome 6.1 inch screen, plays literally anything you can throw at it and has navigation built in. Installing the unit was a breeze, but making the custom bezel has really been a **** story. I have never really done anything like this before but I think it is comming out pretty good so far. Let me know what you guys think!

I would have a better picture but it got reeeeeally dark out and started raining, which forced me to suspend my operation.

I moved the SS dash Plaque to the center console, like the Firehawk's, and put the buttons inside the dash behind the bezel. I never use them anyways so it's no biggie.

I plan on finishing it up and painting it tomorrow. More pics to follow!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the unit has a million color options so you can fully customize it to look stock with your interior lighting. i went with bright red to match all my red LED's. It looks pretty damn amazing!

I don't have any but I think I'm going to do a write up on it. It's actually pretty easy, just a real bitch to get straight lines. The actual bondo part is pretty easy though.
To make the panel that would eventually blend into the bezel, I took a Sierra mist box and cut it up to fit like a trim panel would. Then I took some bondo with the little hairy **** in it and gooped it onto the cardboard and bezel. When that dried I sanded it down to "somewhat smooth". I then took some regular bondo body filler and smoothed out the hair. It took about 3 layers of body filler to get the perfect amount of smoothness. I took a bondo applicator and put some sand paper around it to make all the lines smooth and achieve the nice sharp corners.

If you want to do something like this you will really need some patience. I really wanted to just rush and get it done, but after my rush job I quickly realized that I would need to simmer and do it right.

Yeah, you can hook them up! You can also hook up a reverse camera and 2 separate av units, like a ps2 or xbox or something.

Unfortunately no. It was raining like a bitch and I only had my cell phone. I'll have more pictures up tomorrow morning when I finish this thing off. If the rain dies out I may run out and snap a pic or two.

Here is a better shot. I added some more bondo to smooth out the entire piece. I'm running out to the store to get some paint next. I'm gonna get a textured spray I think.

The lines around the actual headunit look skewed, but in real life they look fine. I'm a perfectionist and to me it looks fine. Thanks for looking!

Looks great man. You can always cover it in "leather" It would give it a custom look and wouldn't show any flaws like paint would... Kinda like this.

Looks great Russ. That's the only way I would have a screen in my car compared to a flip out. Looks very professional

Here it is covered in leather. I just kind of slapped it on there for now and will fix all the wrinkles and parts that looks wavy tomorrow. I need to get some food and it's cold out now

Don't judge this picture just yet, its just a taste of the finished deal. Also, it's worth mentioning that though the bezel and the dash look like 2 different colors, it's because of the flash. In regular lighting it looks sooooooo close it's barely noticeable.

Anyhow,
EDIT: final pics on page 2/3. This picture looked like absolute ***.....

A lot of the corners are peeling back, so I will need to go back over them with some extra glue. Thanks for looking!

Thanks a lot Brian! Seriously though, the unit lets me pick any color for the buttons to light up, even bright red It matches my ultra-bright red led's perfectly!!! A dream come true
