Default How to get the "trans am" lettering off the rear

On my 2000 Trans am, the "Trans Am" lettering above the bird emblem is all faded and looks like crap. I bought replacement lettering, but how would you guys go about removing the old? thanks

It probably wont stick very well. Not to mention its the proper way to do it. If my front bird decal started peeling i wouldnt just apply a new one over it.

Well you may not fully understand the construction of the rear center section panel then.
It's not a decal on the center section. It's an embossed ink stamp.
If it fades out, you CAN simply place a decal over it, if you get the matching decal.

If he uses a towel & some type of product to remove the ink, the embossed area will still be visible. Then simply adhere the decal.

Or wet-sand to completely remove it all together, ...
(<--- See feedback, ..., I've done this a couple hundred times, ...)

I've placed decals over the "firebird" and the "bird". they never faded cause it was taken care of since day one. But decals will stick to it. Have been for years.

I just completely blacked mine out... the bird is embossed in so i used 400grit, 600grit, 800grit, 1000grit, 1000grit wet, 2000grit, 2000grit wet, polishing compound, then plastic lens cleaner/polisher in this exact order and it looks like it came from the factory that way...not to mention it looks cleaner without the bird(that doesnt really flow with the car too well)...

Just clean it from dust and apply new decal. Trust US ALL! It WILL stay.
