Default How about window tint on the OUTSIDE?

It seems to me that putting window tint on the outside of the windows.. at least the back window, would solve a lot of the problems with the bumps and defrost lines.

If done well you wouldn't be able to tell

there's got to be some film/adhesive that would be up to the task

Before I started looking closesly at window tint, I always thought windows were tinted on the outside. Would tinting on the outside affect the ability to see out well enough?

It wouldn't last very long, the glass is what protects the tint from the elements. Tint is really fragile.

Just to add to what everyone else has already said, any person doing the job who is worth a ****, can easily tint the defroster and "dot matrix" portion of the back window without making it look out of place or bad.

Don't you think someone else would have done it by now if it worked just as good or better?

THe guy I took it to is apperently "the best in the area" He says he usually has no problem with 15% or above sticking to the dot matrix, but 5% limo tint usually wont stick. He says it's because 5% is too thick.

He tried but couldn't get the limo tint to stick on the dot matrix. He went at the matrix withsandpaper, and a heat gun but had to cut it. I just painted the inside of my glass over the dot matrix black, and it looks awesome.

Any little thing that hit your window would scratch it.. It wouldnt stand out to the outside elements..

ok. i understand what you're all getting at.

I totally agree that putting normal inside auto tinting film on the outside is a bad idea...

BUT what I'm getting at is maybe there's something else out there.. for instance the tinting that they put on some buildings on the outside that is able to withstand hail and whatnot.

and for the ice scraper thing...

Sometimes people put vinyl on windows like below, going along with the flat black theme.
