Default Quick side molding question

If my car doesn't sell soon, and I keep it, I will be deleting my side molding soon. My uncle told me he has a heat gun, so we are gonna try and do it ourselves. Seems like a simple task to pull off, however, I have a few quick questions. After we pull it off, what do we do? Do we use goof off or something to get the rest of the glue off, or is there something else? Also, how often does it occur that when you pull the molding off, the paint is fucked up? Any prep or afterward things i need to do?...this is the first time ever doing something like this, and I wanna do it right myself instead of paying a shop todo it for me when I have them fix the dent...

I use 3M adhesive and wax remover. Safe for paint and works very well.

I pulled it off then used a heat gun and some goo gone with a rag to get off all the residue. My car had all the original 01 paint on it and there was no color change under the trim

I took mine off and just used my thumb to get any residual tape off the car. Took me 20-30 min total

Just make sure your car hasn't been painted before or it won't match

I use wd40 and fishing line. The rest should come off with your thumb. There might be a thin black line of dirt build up and it will come off when you wash clay and wax.
