Most people go with the vinyl birds, but I would also like to see some that are painted.....I actually do not think I have seen one painted on a 4th gen Firebird....

Yeah I agree, I do not recall any painted on... and thats crazy since the bird is so symbolic to these cars. Also the outline of the bird can be left up to the painter to kinda play with and see what looks best and fits best on the car. I am talking to a painter right now that does FANTASTIC detail work and plan on meeting with him to discuss some ideas to put a bird on my hood...

I've seen a few that were airbrushed on and seemed a little...too 80's for the car as a whole.

Only one I could scare up from my trips to the Trans Am Nationals. Most painted birds I saw were on 2nd gens, of course.

WOW very cool!

Thanks for the help guys, I am still more interested in a "ghost Appearance" of the bird... I am going to talk to this painter next week and see what we can come up with!

I forgot to mention my car is an LT1 so it will be a little different fitting the bird to the contores of the lt1 hood instead of a flat
ls1 hood.

If they are done right, I like them on a new TA. I am not talking about the birds that really stand out.........i am talking about the ghost birds I have seen pics of. I saw a Sunset orange TA with a bird across the hood........I didn't notice it was there until I walked up close to it. I thought Mighty Mouse has some type of a ghost bird on his hood.

Here is a picture of the day I bought my car:

Here is a picture after ammonia, saran wrap, plastic ice scrapper and coat of Zaino:

I would like to kill whoever put that damned vinyl hoodbird on my car. If you are the previous owner that did the hoodbird please PM me and I will come and kill you. Thanks. That being said DO NOT put a hoodbird on your car it belongs on some rednecks 2nd gen.

Come on guys I am not wanting a goofy looking bird decal or a crappy looking bird painted on my car, I want a "ghost bird" so that when you look at it a certain way the bird will pop out a bit... kinda grab peoples attention and have them say "that is badass"
