Default Spraying/VHT tail lights faded.

well i'm going to darken my tail lights like some other members have done by putting a little bit of black in some clear. my idea is to fade from the center section maybe with more solid black. do you guys think it would look good? i think it would when its not lit but when it lites up it will look kind of burnt out on the inside. the only thing i can think of is maybe fading around the whole edges so instead of there being a cut off line for the light it just fades around the edges. anyone following me on this? it shouldnt be a hard photo shop.

I don't know about mixing black with clear, but VHT works great.

Fading it like you mentioned might look good, or it might look like you half-assedly tried to do it normal. Your supposed to apply it in thin coats and give it time to dry in between. You could do the first 1-2 coats over the whole light, the next 1-2 coats just half, then the last 1-2 over the edge.

Use very light coats and be careful not to let it get drippy.

Black with clear does work and it works very well if you prep the lights like you would a car. Just wet sand em smooth and use multiple coats.

Probably looks better than vht but that takes work.

The tricky part is mixing in the right amount of black......I forget how much I used to use.

This is VHT nightshade. Clear and black is real nice too but I would perfer nightshade if you dont have access to a gun.

Before Clearcoat-

After Clear-

Thats really weird, I have done tons of tails and I havn't seen any fade yet. Do you use VHT nightshade or do you mix black and clear?

I think VHT says that it may start to fade after some time. Take them off and throw a couple more coats on.

After the vht/clear has cured for at least a day. I would definitely polish them out. I used a compound and the results were night and day. Here is a pic of mine with 3 coats of VHT and clear each.

The camera flash really lightens em up
