the estimate is for my black 00 Camaro SS...I'm getting a color change to HUGGAR ORANGE with PPG quality paint...

also: some detail to the hood will be a semi-gloss black mantus hood as well as a berger semi-gloss panel (both black)

Please after reading, suggest ne thing u wish, such as other colors, options etc...plz don't ask if they are qualified, they are top notch pros...they juss finished a cav that cost over $100,000 to make!!!

things to be done:

*Remove all interior pieces...
*prep exterior for paint
*prep jams
*mask interior for overspray
*refinish all jams per color change *clearcoat (3)
*E-coat protection
*wet sand and polish finish
*warranty for paint from both PPG and painter

Body Labor, $1,318.80
Paint Labor, $1,218.00
Paint Supplies, $696.00

TOTAL= $3,232.80

SO HOWS THE PRICE AND WHAT NOT??? PlZ, BIG DECISION!!! need opinions!!!

Changing the color of the car is one reason why the cost would go up. The type of paint is very important but it sounds like you picked A+ paint! For that price, are they going to paint under the hood? What type of warranty are they going to provide? Sounds like the price is a bit high, but you get what you pay for!
If they provide a good warranty and do good work, I would say go for it!

Sounds like you are getting a good deal! I can't give you any further suggestions. Looks like you have a good thing going in your head. I say go with it!

BTW- Do you have any pictures that would give me more detail on the hood? I am trying to get a mental picture. Are you doing graphics, lettering, or stripes on the hood?

I asked a local shop on what it would cost to redo my SOM color in a few years and I was quoted $9000. Removeing every part from the car and repainting it all.

BLULS1z28: what I meant by all the interior removed needed, I meant like things such as the door panels, rear hatch window plastic, door sills, etc...wherever u see paint..

Zangel: I can't host pictures at the time of what I'm going with, its a pretty unique idea so not much to look for, but to be more specific: on the ram air hood of my ss, the actual scoop center part, I want to paint it flat black like the old Mopar black...and as for the rear, I want the berger also in the flat black...I'm going with a chrome decal set, custom made chrome gas door, chrome antenna, billit grill, and a custom ram air made chrome grill BTW (chrome parts are extra $$$)...so no, not full stripes or lettering...the color in itself stands out as u already know!

SOM WS6: DAMMMMMM, lol...9 grand! ouch...

keep the opinions comming please!

Sounds good to me. The color change on my Berger cost $7,800. Black to Electron Blue.

Bad 00 SS,

You picked a good color to change to man Make sure you get the roof and the mirrors painted black. I thinks it's to much orange if you paint them orange to match the car. Something else to think about since your car is going to be in the shop. You could get some of your interior painted Hugger Orange to match. I seen a guy with a Hugger SS who had his interior painted by a body shop and cleared..it looked sweet. When is your SS going in the shop? Can't wait to see the pics.

Derek's 99 Z: Once all the paper-work is done, the car is going to be in the shop right after July 26th...they would need my car for about 4-5 weeks...good point on the mirrors, but I may want to paint them orange since all the others seem to be black...and that would look too much like a stock 99 IMO...yeah, the huggar orange would look awesome, very rare...actually my interior is already black/camel...lol...so yeah it has to go, I was quoted to dye all panels black $1,200! so in time, I want to go all black, some orange in there, and some old retro style seats from year one (orange ones with black stiching)...these guys can do ne thing, so plz keep the opinions comming...

Bad 00 SS,

I can't wait to see the pics man. I wanting a Hugger Orange SS so bad right now that I can't stand it I would love to paint my Hugger Orange and put a SS hood and wing on it, but the parents won't let me.....DANGIT. Since your engine bay will be black you could paint your STB orange to highlight it, and maybe some orange wire loom. Just some ideas I thought I would toss at ya.

Thats a great price!
Mine cost 7k and they took apart the whole car, door jams, under hood but not engine bay. Now the warrenty they give you doesnt cover rock chips and since your car is black like mine was they will show up big time! I picked up the car today and was lucky the shop covered my car cause it only had a 1k miles and there were alot, most likly from freeway runs lol. Good luck
before

after

Sounds way cheap for a good paint job..

GOOD paint jobs run around $6k plus..

GREAT paint jobs are around $10k.. I kid you not.. so, provided they do a great job, your price is a bargin..

I suppose that is a good price. Everyone claims to be an expert until you see the work ya know. I just had mine done. With extra parts such as fuel rail covers, intake and air lid done with labor it approached the 8 grand mark. Now i sent it back (stupidly) to have ghost flames done on it, fix a few scratches, that have occured since it was painted in march, rebuff it since its cured and have other things fixed aswell.

I wish my engine bay was done, because i have the 2 damn shock towers navy blue while the car is electron blue, but i didn't want them taking the engine apart, i dont' trust people who have never worked on an f-body before to be tinkering with the engine ya know. I might make some covers and chrome them to cover the shock towers or just have them painted eventually don't know. Good luck with your paint job though.

Ah... guess that would make quite a difference huh? I like the way that looks on the Camaro though, very nice touch.
