Default headlight fog goes away when wet

I just got some backup headlights in case i mess anything up. I used 2000 grit wet sand and it worked good until the headlight dried. Now when the headlight is wet it looks super clean, than when it dries its super foggy. WTF is going on?

You might have to go to a polish to get the finer scratches out. I know when I did mine, I worked up to 2000 grit, and then finished with the 3 stage Novus plastic polish, and then it buffed up super clear. It was fuzzy until I used the polish. I would think even the fine scratches of 2000 grit would still diffuse the light enough to make it appear foggy... Im sure others will have suggestions, but a plastic polish kit probably wouldnt be a bad idea.

lol! you cant just sand them and be done with it, you HAVE TO get some Novus three step polishing kit and spend a lot of time polishing them.....

You can go to wal-mart and pick up Meguiars PlastX. Put it on the lens and rub really hard. Do multiple coats. Mine turned out lookin brand new.

DO NOT expect plastx to work half as good on those headlights as the Novus kit, it is only goo if you HAVE NOT sanded your headlights, if you have sanded then you will need the Novus kit, dont waste money on the plastx....Trust me! I did....

The Meguiars Plastix will work if you use a buffer. I sanded with 1500, buffed with Plastix on a drill-mounted buffer pad, and they came out great.

I sanded my head lights, then used meguires plastX. Didnt use a buffer either, just a sock so i could put alot of pressure on it and move fast.
