Default volant installed and tips corrected!

Okay finally got my volant installed, it was a huge pain in the ***, I had to take so much off of it to make it fit and it still isn't close to how it should be.
I cannot get the Y to attach to the maf completely, I got it as tight as I could then used some tape around it until I can figure out a better solution.
Also I'm without a bolt on one side and I cannot get the damn y and cones centered, they want to stay to the right which looks dumb as hell. I can't adjust them without the maf being pulled out again.. so back to square one.
This is my daily driver so I had to figure out something for a quick "fix".
So I got my tips put on right this time and had them realign the tips and now they are further back and look great to me.
ALSO should I black out my trans am filler panel? It doesn't really go with the car since my trans am door letters are chrome and my ram air hood decal is chromed out too.

I vote beans and cheese dumdumdum but you should black out the center tail. I like your pair of cones it looks different. I've got the FIPK so I only have one large element. Did you notice any performance change? Tips look nice and aligned too.

Yeah I do notice a power difference and a slight noise difference as well. Going down the highway it was pulling a little harder. My car isn't up to par with everyones yet though, the previous owner put these highly restrictive small cats and super tiny pipe on my exhaust so my car isn't happy at all. But that will all change very soon.

i guess i got lucky with my volant, it went on with no issues. then again i bought mine used from a board member and maybe he had to fight with it first? have you knocked out the baffles in your ram air hood? i noticed an even bigger difference when i did that, especially in the sound department. as for the filler panel, i like all 3 choices i will probably end up with a custom painted one. there is a guy on here that will put whatever you want on it. can't remember his user name at the moment but he runs adds in the classified section. keep up the good work

nope.. not quite sure how to do it, is there a write up somewhere on this site on how to do it?
Everyone said it was so easy to fix the volant to make it work but it is NOT easy on this car.

not sure if there is a write up?? it is a pretty straightforward job. just remove the outside grills, raise the hood and drill out the pop rivetts. give em a little tap to loosen them up and fish them out through the opening. took me about 10 minutes total time. there are lots of threads on here talking about it. hope this helps

Mine fits fine. I had to cut the coupler at angle so that it all lined up nice.

Wow, that is pretty bad. I would have thought it'd go on nice and straight. Do you have the smooth bellows? I know mine kind messes up with way my lid fits.

nope no smooth bellows.. just stock
I don't understand what the differences are that would cause mine to fit so horribly.
I will take more pictures tomorrow to try and figure out why it's not working.

I added a fernco type hose to couple the maf and the Y and I cut the top section of the hole where the Y goes through and it fits perfect now.

I just took it to the shop that did it and they realigned them and switched them around for free.. and also coated the welds in this stuff to keep rust off
