You could relocate it to the glove box or center console and put gauges there...

Chris, if by retrofit you mean putting newer HVAC controls in your older car I am not sure what you would use...

Unfortunately, our controls are completley manual, not electric and all the cool new stuff is electric...

You need a carpc. It's a computer in the car and that bit of PVC fits on the motherboard and apparently allows you to change the temperature. But I'm thinking theres a lot of hidden work and extra wiring that needs to be done.

I don't quite understand how it controls the heat and air though.

If you mean the software, it probably is a few touch buttons that look similar to an HVAC. Like:

[OFF] [1] [2] [3] [4] [MAX AC] [DEFROST]

etc. and you just touch what you want on. I doubt it'd be complex at all.

So far, i've found no real doable solution for this idea. Since our controls are manual, you would have to take essentially an entire HVAC system from another vehicle to get the digital functionality, or dual-zone...or anything fancier than what's already there.

I'm still looking though.

Could take the dual zone thing from a junked C5. If I were going to do this (which I may, considering I'm doing a carPC soon), that'd be my route. Well, C5 or junked CTS.
