Default What years did camaros get black (NOT ebony) consoles?

Well I got my 98 Z28 and there were 3 holes drilled in the upper console. I bought a new piece off ebay and when it arrived it was black and not charcoal..... Now I cant find any cars with black consoles to go by. Does anyone know what years got black consoles? Thanks

Jeremy

Is yours "black" or ebony? the ebony has a brownish tint to it.

Neither are ebony. The charcoal one on the left is what I took out of my car. The black one on the right is what I ended up with off ebay. Now Im trying to find a lower console to match the one on the right. All Im finding when I look for a black lower console is ebony

Hmm the eboney in my friends 02 SS sure looked alot more brownish than the console piece on the right. Maybe its just the textured parts that look like that. Maybe the smooth parts retain a black look. I guess Ill have to find a local car with ebony and compair them.

There was NO pure black interior cars. Ebony is as close as your gonna get unless you paint/dye it yourself. Your buddies "Ebony" interior is either getting worn out, dirty or isn't Ebony if it doesn't match the console on the right.

The console you bought off ebay is Ebony. Even if the sellers description said black. I see people list these interior pieces as black all the time instead of calling it Ebony & usually those people are the one who really don't know.

1997 through 1999 received "Graphite" interior parts. (Looks Grey)

2000 through 2002 received "Ebony" interior parts. (Looks Black)

In the pic above the console on the left is Graphite and the console on the right is Ebony.

My 2001 Z28 came with graphite interior... I thought only the 2 tone interiors were black.. My 2002 is tan and black but my 2001 was solid.

The ONLY way your 2001 came with Graphite is if someone changed the interior color.

I own a 1997 Camaro SS and a 2000 Camaro SS . . . and there is NO way that GM would switch the color back to Graphite for one year . . .

I also know that 1999 TA's came with Graphite cause I have interior parts out of one . . .

I will say again . .

1997 through 1999 Graphite:

2000 through 2002 Ebony:

2000 through 2002 Neutral:

Wow! Thank for the pics and responses. I thought you could get black or graphite in the early LS1 years but I guess I was wrong.
