Default Question about installation of Harlan Shift Light in A-Pilla

For those of you who have installed the Harlan Shift light in the A-Pillar, how did you get the light to be solid in the defroster hole. The hole is slightly larger than the shift light. I see where you have to move the air tube to get the light in there, but then what did you use to fill in the gap when the shift light is in the hole and how or what did you use to keep the light in there from moving around. Thanks

I left the plastic piece in the hole and just cut the vents out of it. Then it was almost perfect size but I put some JB weld on to the back to hold it.

One of the main aspects of a shift light's construction is its brightness so that you can see it in your peripheral vision. You're not supposed to stare at a shift light and wait for it to come on. With the LEDs in the Harlan it's probably one of the best locations for it.

I completely took out the tube and the small vent and used a rubber grommet that my father got for me from his work. He brought a few home and just used the one that fit best. Fortunate for me, there was one that fit just right. It fit the inside diameter of the hole on the pillar and the outside diameter of the light. I used the Raptor shiftlight, so it might not work with the Harlan. Its real snug, so it may fit but wont be as tight. Here's a pic. Hope this helps.

Of course, I dont see how you would do it without doing so. If I remember right, all you have to do if you have t-tops is take out the 2 screws at the very top of the pillar where the t-top lays and then gently pull in the middle. There's a tab behind there where it also holds it in place. Once you do that, then you have all the access to what needs to be done. (removal of the tube, sliding wire through, etc.) Hope that helps!
