Default The E-Brake button popped out?? How do I get it to stay in?

I pulled the e-brake up while i was cleaning the inside, and as I did.. the little black button that you push in to release it popped out! It is connected to a cylindrical metal rod with a spring inside. I have tried to get it to stay in but it just pops back out everytime. So when I lift the e-brake it wont stay up, doesnt make the normal clicking noise etc. However, it still engages the brake. Is there something this rod hooks up to to make it stay in, and function normally?
Thanks <img src="images/icons/mad.gif" border="0">

Probably...if you still have warranty I would just take it to the dealer to fix it...
