Pic of USNSS'"S: Dash, Heater core removal!
Well since this pic is soo big I am just gonna post this one shot. You can see the outline in the firewall of were the ehater core was. If you look to the lieft slightly you can see that round black plastic portion that we beleive to be rivited into the side wall that we could not get out.
But there ya go. I have more pics but I really should get them resized before I post them!
BTW this is USNSS's car: 11.29@119 ARE H/C Th400

Azzkicker, after that really big pic, how can you say that my car doesn't look great! LOL
BTW, guys, that black plastic thing in the middle of the picture that looks like a propeller is the piece that Andy was talking about. To unbolt it, just remove your motor...its easy to get to then.
He,He!
I'm going to try to get the car weighed this week.
All in all, the removal of the B&B, heater core and duct work, and air bag netted a loss of about 100 lbs.

That will be ProStockJohn's next mod. Taking the dash out.

Cant Drv: Look at it this way. Now that these cars have been out for awhile I think were gonna start seeing more of them turning into all out race cars. Much like Stock ellimator cars. Were gonna start seeing more and more of these cars turn into all out strip cars. I mean think about it. Colonol just went 9.95 NA with a 422. I mean there arnt alot of race cars that run that quick with a small block. I mean the stock ellimator record now is a 10.5@126 I beleive on the foot brake. Thats with stock heads, and stock lift.
I know I personally am going this route! I would love to turn this car into an all out race car that I can still drive on the street!

Re: Pic of USNSS'"S: Dash, Heater core removal!
I know that "gutting" the inside of the car seems pretty hardcore to some of you and, trust me, if this was my daily ride I would never have done it. We've turned a corner here, as Andy said, into building an all out race car. That means, in part, removing all that is unnecessary. Granted my car looks a little ragged on the inside now, but I can work on some of the "cosmetics" during the off-season. The intent in sharing these pictures is in no way intended to say that everyone should do this! You have to make your own choices about what you want to do with your car, but in the process if this can spark some new ideas for anyone here, then all the better.

Here is a pic of my old lt1 turbo car, notice the lack of heater box and front engine accessory bracket. Removing the heater box is worth 30# or so, but its a lot of work. This is really for race only setups, people that never plan on selling their car.
