Question Limp Mode Under 70degrees Outside???

would really like some expert advise. I have a 97 formula ws6. It is somehow going into limp mode when cold. I mean cold as under 70degrees outside temp. doesn't matter when it was above 80 outside, i didn't have the problem. After start up i go to shift into gear and it grabs really hard. Now at that point i can let it run and it will drive only in 3rd gear(limp mode??). If i let it run, sometimes only 20seconds if it's a lil warm out but still under 70, then turn the car off for 15seconds, start it back up and i have all gears again? Is this a computer malfunction? Came across a tsb saying it could be caused by aftermarket alarm install which it had at one point. There are 2 wires plugged into the fuse box on the drivers side of dash, are they supposed to be there? Just don't want to make anything run worse than what it does already. Thought maybe it was just a transmission issue, but it runs great once i've cycled the limp mode off. Any answers?

When you have this problem are you using a remote start with your alarm? If so the guy who installed your alarm used the wrong wires. I have seen this happen many times in my years in the business. Vince

p0785, 2-3 shift malfunction, and one about the check valves in air tubes on exhaust manifolds. any ideas why it would be temperature related?

Default just had a thought

would the check valves being stuck when it was cold make the car go into limp mode? starting off from 3rd isn't much fun

PO785 in not the 2-3 solenoid but rather that 3-2 solenoid and the code is electrical.
Its not likely and issue outside the transmission. Whats most likely is either the connector to the solenoid is bad and opening up when cold , Or more likely is the armature in the solenoid is faulty and is open when cold as the temperature increases the coil expands and makes contact, I would change the3-2 solenoid and you will most likely be good to go.

mine is showing the same code, but i done all my wireing myself,(hybrid) anyway when you put urs in reverse do you have it, or have to give a little gas at a time for it to start moving back and also drive , i was thinking i dont have enough fluid, in the trans but i dont seem to have power in first gear nor in reverse, but i have only driven the car about 5' that was enough to know something isn't right, also how many quarts of fluid do i need to put in converter had some in it , and i put 6 q. in trans how much in total if trans is dry say after rebuild, that may be some of my problems, but i am showing th 3-2 shift code
