Why do you want to go manual, that is the beauty of the automatic. It is going to shift the same every time, and that is what wins races. If you are putting an electronic transmission in an early model car with no computer, then the manual shifting makes sense. Are you having problems with the trans shifting, maybe you need a vacuum modulator mod.

The vaccume mod only controls line pressure in a different way and has no affect on shift points

Some people have a problem with keeping line pressure constant, the computer wants to do to much. Low line pressure will cause things to go bad quick, like late and slow shifts. This does not sound like your problem. You are just not satisfied with the computer doing what it thinks you want. I might suggest a tune and a nice shift kit to enhance the automatic. Other than that, maybe change to a manual?

Nothing wrong with a MVB in an automatic. My TH400 is RMVB and I love driving it on the street. WAY more control, and its alot more fun. I love manual cars too don't get me wrong but a 4k stall and a MVB are hella fun on the street.
If its a daily driver it might get old.
