Can I use a denali yukon 6180e transmission without a transfer case with a new tailshaft so I can use it in my 08 silverado in 2wd setup? I know I may have to get a new software programmed into the tranny module for a 2wd setup right?

I guess you mean 6L80??? If you want to put a 4wd trans in a 2wd you will need to change the ouputshaft and the tailhousing. I'm pretty sure the programming will be different also.
