Question A4 to TH400 CROSSMEMBER

Guys, I read all stickys and did a search as well but couldn’t found how to modify my stock A4 CROSSMEMBER to work with Th400 4in tail?!

The only thing I found is this can be done by moving it 2-3" to the back.

Can you please help me to know how to do it, and what I need to do it?

Pics would be much helpful

Thanks in advance

You need to use a T56 crossmember, then shim the mount up, I bought the Spohn solid shim and poly mount, and used a GM T-56 crossmember.

Why not just save and do it right, your already going to buying another crossmember (t56) you probably could have the correct one from our sponsor for a bit more. Either way, good luck! I'm in the process of swapping to an A3 setup now also.

My car was born a 94, so I used a LT1 T56 crossmember. Just order the T56 crossmember for whatever year your car is, there is a difference between the LT1 and LS1 cars. And those are the Spohn products I used, and they were perfect. Although the bolts supplied were the wrong ones, they were easily swapped out. I was able to use a Hurst kit for the third gens, and used the stock torque arm with the TH400. Worked out nice, and it was all a bolt in deal.
The crossmember new from the dealer was like $30 or so.

It is pretty critical to keep the angle of the tailshaft, so you don't have any issues. The spohn mount figures that out for you.

Yes T56 crossmember can be modified to work. What is the correct angle of the tailshaft? Just have it straight or does it need to be alittle higher than lets say the T56 tail would be?
