Default can a stock 4L80 take 1,000hp stock?

thinking about doing a 4L80 for my 1,000hp build since I want it to be streetable.

people say to do a 4L80 since they're a lot tougher than the 4L60. are they tough enough to take 1,000hp stock? if not what would you change?
also what stall would you run? Not concerned about times really, just a good street, weekend strip car, 3000 stall? 4000?

1,000 stock no, maybe 600hp or a bit more. You can easily have it withstand that number with simple things done to it.

At a 1000rwhp nothing stock is going to last. I would make sure to install a shift kit and also I feel that a better intermediate sprag and clutch should be used. In our level 5 builds we add these parts and also add clutches to the intermediate clutch and also the direct clutch. In order to do this some machining is required and I do not recommend it for a doityourselfer! The direct drum is a custom piece that uses a wider sprag than the stock 80 sprag. Vince

Hi Vince,
You've been really helpfull before when I make posts like this trying to pick people's brains. I think for my tranny I'm goiing to have someone rebuild a 4L80 for me, building it to handle 1,000hp. Got a price on one?
I'll be looking for this over the summer of 09 i think.
Chris
