Default Swapping tranny stuff between two F-body ... Got some questions

OK, here is what I got. My mean street machine is in my sig. It has a M6, but I want to put in a built auto. The outcoming M6 will go into my '02 T/A that has an 4L60E. Here is my plan. I am going to swap stuff like center consoles, shifters, pedal assemblies, wiring harness & etc. For the street machine I am looking at a very well built 4L80E that has all the electronic controls retained. I would like to use the factory computer to control the tranny and lock-up. Are the wiring harnesses hard wired in or do they have quick disconnecting plugs? Are there plug differences between the 4L60E and 4L80E? Anything else I should be aware of when I do this?

I think you are going to have to swap the harness complete. You will have to add some wiring for the input speed senor for the 80 and the pins are a bit different from the 60 to the 80. You can swap the wires in the connector or get a conversion harness from speartech. Your computer will have to be reflashed with a program for a truck program for the 80e transmission. Vince

I have HPTuner programmer, but my PCM has been flashed for 3-bar SD. Why would I have to use a truck program? The settings are still there in the tuner program. How can I make sure the tune knows that it has a auto?

you need the tune to for segment swapped, lsxtune can also do this for cheaper then hp tuners. You are going to need a slip yoke, dipstick, cooler, u-joint, converter email me for this i know a guy who does them.

because it cost 2 credits for them to do it and you can have Steve at HPtuners do it for 75 then email it to you. You cannot do the segment swap with HPTuners trust me.

Well, since I don't have any available credits, I'll give HPTuner a call.
