Exclamation Question about my stall converter

I recently had a 3200 vigalante SC in my car well shortly after while i was on the highway my transmission started to slip and wouldn't run right at all. so when i pulled my pan off the converter had came apart and burned the clutches out. I sent to converter back to PI and they said that i shouldn't use the 3200 for a daily driver but they would also replace it. so i had them send me a 2800 lock up. My ? is how much different does a 2800 feel from the stock and would it be alright to use it as a daily driver both city and highway use because i don't have another 1300 buck to rebuild my transmission again. also i had a transmission cooler on it the whole time so my transmission getting hot was'nt the case. Also would the gas mileage be alot better with the 2800 because with the 3200 it sucked on both the highway and the city averaged about 16mpg.

That's bull..you certainly can use the 3200 as a daily drive..I have a 3600 and drive it to and from the track and around town.

I would agree there are guys using 4000 stalls as daily drivers without issue, The 2800 will do a little better of fuel around town but either stall should be the same on the highway in lockup.

If you were only getting 16 on the highway, your converter may not have been locking. The resulting excessive heat build-up - even with a cooler - may have contributed to premature failure. Or your converter may have been defective from the beginning.

But, as everybody on this board is going to tell you, DD'ing a 3200 is not a problem.
