4L60 to 6L80
Is it possible??? I have a 4L60 with 3.73's and they are kickin my a$$ with gas on the road. I am on the West Coast so gas prices are not to forgiving out here. So a swap to a 6 speed Auto would be great. I have seen this tried on the Truck but what about a LS1 is there a possibility for it? How would you lengthen a driveshaft or put it to the correct angle to have it work also would I have to swap out my E/PCM???

it's possible but you'd have to run a trans controller. Beyond that i'm not sure what else you'd have to do, maybe someone else will chime in that knows a little more.

IF this was around when I was tranny shopping I would have went this route instead of the 4L80E. Well atleast a Built 6L80E.
The 6L80E is only little bit bigger than the 4L60E, so its not that big of a tranny. Certainly smaller than the 4L80E that I have now. In fact the 6L80E is shorter than the 4L60E.

Looks like they have a wireharness controller to make it work.

yeh I really don't know the specs on the 6L80 but the reason I think it would be good is for the gear ratio set up and 6 of them at that. Cause I again if gas goes up like it did I am going to be spending more on that than I would have for getting a custom set-up. I guess another question would be is it bolting up to a LSX block, what problems would arise from that and also the talk of needing a different driveshaft. Would having a adjustable torque arm help with the angle that it sits if it is off?
