Default Z-Pack clearance

Hi guys,

I am currently building a 4l60e to handle around 500hp and am running the z-pack as my 3-4 clutch pack. With the info sheet it reccommends between .050-.070". I get a reading of .057 but was just wondering what everyone else runs with these clutch packs. I've heard that around 0.020" is ideal. Anyone got any opinions/ideas?

Thanks

I've been using the .106" thick Kolene steels with 6-7 red or high energy green frictions. I run between .020"-.030". You can run a little tighter, but be careful. The parasitic drag over 5800rpm can heat the thinner steels and over time start to warp them. The steels pull heat from the frictions and is cooled with the atf. Used the springs to help. Think of it like a thin brake rotor. If you're hard on it, it will warp. Kinetic energy.
