Default Built 4L60E Transmission Issues at the track :(

So went to the track today for opening day with my new (to me) ACE Racing Stage 2 4L60E w/ Vacuum modulation and 3600 Vigilante, pulled up to the line, brake torqued it to about 2 grand and mashed the gas when the light changed, Car pulled out of the hole hard for a split second, got to about 9mph and then instantly jumped against the rev limiter.

Got back on it and wound out 2nd then I could feel it let go at the top of 2nd so I let off and let it grab 3rd and got back on it for an impressive 13.50@107

2nd run it gave me most of first, slipped at the top let out got it into 2nd, slipped at the top and I just coasted the rest for an impressive 13.41@95

3rd run I got a good launch, 1.74 60' and it let go at the top of first, let go at the top of 2nd, and I ran a great 13.60@100

Mind you this is all OFF the bottle, my measly 350rwhp bolton car

So now my question is.... WHY. converter? Trans?

We checked the fluid, and it was right at the top of the hatches like it was since we put it in, smelled normal.

When it gets into the higher RPM's it feels like it just completely lets go and smashes the limiter.

On the way home it would not complete a 1-2 shift or 2-3 shift, and a few times felt like it was grinding bad, shook the car.

I have videos as well as HPTuners logs to post here in a few.

Here you can see the bad slip in first on the first run (Def not wheel spin as speed would increase, 14mph @ 6700RPM not good)

2nd run:

3rd run I forgot to save the log

Here is the external video of the first run, you can see me fall off the face of the earth

3rd run from Inside, you can hear it let go and smash the limiter in every gear

Is that what they said or did you ride in it before he yanked it. I would put a pressure guage on it but I think its hurt

Does sound like it neutrals, Can really think of anything that would cause that, Thats not fluid related.
But the grindings not good. I would pull the pan and inspect the filter and contents of the pan.

Bump for any more advice.

Going to drop the pan on Friday.

Do any autopart stores rent a pressure gauge for trannys? Not too keen on spending $80 on one

That doesn't look like a good running 10,000 mile trans to me.
Looks like you were lied to.

We changed the fluid and filter last night, took it out for a test n tune earlier this morning for the hell of it, first pass I got 3 terrible sounding clunks/bangs right off of the line... I thought it was time to call AAA, but the car started moving again, noticed I had no speed reading on the cluster until I was almost back into my pit area

I fear you are correct

i had a fresh 4l60e go. Looks like it needs some attention. Mine felt like it free spooled into neutral. My builder told me to try manually shiftin it. It loved it. Im now replacing the forward sprag with a dual cage 29 borg warner unit. GL with it. I have been through 4 built 4l60s. A stock GM reman has lasted the longest in between the built junkers......

Welp, trans let go even more tonight on the way home from Buffalo Wild Wings, seems 2nd gear checked out and 1st will not go above 3k without making some awful banging and free revving...

And you're still driving it why? It's not gonna magically fix itself with fresh fluid and a new filter, dude. You see that metallic sludge on your finger in the pics you posted? That's all clutch material. The trans is toast and the converter is gonna need to be cut and cleaned as well. The more you drive it, the more you're gonna break it.

I know this, some people need to do things out of necessity, the car is parked now and will be until it makes its journey to the garage to get torn down.
