Default 4l60e help

I have a 68 Camaro with a 4L60E and a TCI TCU. While driving I lost 1st and OD. I tested the solenoids with ohm meter and all are ok but I replaced shift solenoids A and B still no 1st or OD. Next I pulled the valve body cleaned and inspected it replaced the screens in the spacer plate and installed new wire harness still no 1st or OD. I also tried to manualy shift gears as I though that would override computer that didn't work. What do you guys think. I don't know what else to do. Please Help.

Although you have already checked it, according to gm range reference chart the 1-2 shift solenoid is commanded on in 1st and 4th. Doesnt matter if its in OD or manual selection. It does seem strange that after what youve done same results are still showing up. Maybe another user will throw some more ideas your way. Best of luck

To not have 1 or 4th the issue would have to be realted to the 1=2 shift valve train in the valve body .
Or the solenoid you have elimniated the solenoids buy changing them so that leave and issue with a stuck 1-2 shift walve or possibly missassembled valve

Thanks for the correction, I was thinking that I lost 1st and 4th when I broke mine. I was wrong!

When I removed the valve body I pulled the 1/2 and 3/4 shift valves to clean and to check for burrs. They moved freely in the bores and were installed properly. So is there something else I could look for? You guys might not be familiar with the TCI TCU but could that be the cause of the problem? If you have any other suggestions on how to troubleshoot this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Well I would try and determine what the solenoid is being told to do.
Theres a simple cheap test if your lacking any way to look at data,
Go to radio shack and get 2 12v LEDs no light bulbs.
you will need some wire to enough to get from where you can tap into the harness and into the car. Get a little bezel to mount them in they actually are kinda cool.
Now assuming TCI uses the same wiring colors as GM tie the negative side of each led one to the lt green wire and one to the yellow wire with black stripe.
Tie the pos end of the LED to 12v source in car.
1= both on
2nd A off - B on
3=both off
4=A on - B off

A = led tied to the lt green wire
B= led tide to the yellow with black stripe wire.

This will at least let you know whats happening with the TCM

Performabuilt I made the LED tester and checked the TCU as soon as I turned the key on I knew there was a problem only one light was on. TCU didn't command shift solenoid A on so it's the TCU. Thanks again for the advice.I have one more ? I have reverse but don't both shift solenoids have to be on. How dose that work?

No reverse is a purley mechanical function. It will work normally with the transmission completey unplugged.
And you are welcome now you know what your looking at anyway.
