Default Tranny ?

I had my transmission rebuilt about 200 miles ago and put a new stall in. The old stall was a 4500, the new one is a Yank 3400(I am using the stocker right now until I can find out what is up with the new one.) When I get up to highway speed, the stall is not acting right. It seems like the stall is not locking upand when the car shifts to 4th it is staying at around 4000 RPMs at about 45 MPH. I know this is not right. I hooked up the car to a scanner and it shows that the car is shifting into 4th, however I cant tell because it is acting like it is staying in 2nd/3rd from the RPMs. I put the stock stall converter back in ( I still had it laying around) and it works no problem. Shifts fine. @80MPH I am at 3K RPMs like normal. Do I just need a tune? Or is the stall converter F&*^ed up? I seem to remember having similar problems when I installed the 4500 Stall. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes it does sound like a tuning issue and not a stall issue. The PCM becomes confused by the rpm differential caused by the stall . Also the smaller stall may cause false engine missfire segments which will prevent lockup also a tuning issue

Issue has been fixed. Strangely enough it was the Speed Sensor.

The speed sensor is a critical source of information for the PCM controlling the trans

I had no idea. I just put 18" wheels on the back and it was slightly off
