Default TH400 guys chime in PLEASE!

Im thinking of swaping my 99' z28 m6 to a TH400. I was wondering how the streetability was with this trans? What rpm do you pull at highway speeds and with what gear? My car is a MS4 cam and bolt-on car with stock 10 bolt (3.42 gear). The car is definatly not my daily driver but if I wanted to make a hundred mile trip in it after the swap I don't want to regret doing the swap. What are you personal experiences with the TH400 streetability?

you know its a crazy world-guys with older cars are installing o/d trans, guys with newer cars are installing non o/d trans, lol
i dont know what an M6 trans is, but if it has a gear that is 1.1, that is what a 400 would feel like, w/o a lockup-you can use one of the cals. thats out there, punch in your rear gears, tire size, and find the aprx RPM at what speed you want-that doesnt tell the whole story though, take in consideration the converter stall, could add some extra RPM's, and exhaust noise will rise-i have run tons of 400's over the years, now i have a 4l80e, best move i ever made-if i want a 400, i just leave it in 3rd, if i want o/d, slip it into 4th, lock up converter
the 400 may have a higher ratio (lower #) in 1st than your present trans, so will def feel diff on the take off-ok, im done, lol

I have a th350, with 4.10 gears and can run with traffic on the highway at about 3200rpm. Its was like me rining around in 4th gear with my m6.

I like my th400. I would have done a 4l80e but the price just wasn't right on a car I only put 1000 miles on a year in. Like others said you won't have a problem with a th400 in a weekend/ track car.

i guess i am ignorant-i have no idea what the M means, but i guess it means manuel-40 years of building gen 1 and b/b stuff, 350 and 400 trans, this is my first LS motor and first exp. building a 4l80e for my chevelle- except for turning the key in my 2003 pickup, i have never dealt with this new stuff-i really am old school, cant afford to pay somebody to do all my work-ck out June Super Chevy for my car, not to many "new school" guys can hang with me building an entire car by themselves-i mean everthing, lol
hell, i may even switch to FI, but thats going too a little to far

i converted to a 400 from my 6 spd but i went 4.10 w/ a 5200 stall .... but with you 3.42 or 3.73 you'll be fine but for racing its a no brainer
