it's clean on the outside, but drop the trans pan and see what that looks like, that's the easiest way to see if anything is wrong. If it looks/feels gritty, it's most likely shot. I know for a fact cuz my trans looks clean on the outside, but it is completely f*cked.

Id look for a 4L80e swap 1st, 4L60e's are so hit or miss even when "built" If your not getting a a FLT Level 5 or a Century built Transmission, look somewhere else. The 4L80e is a TH400 w/ Overdrive.

Cant tell much about it except its and LSX 4l60e out of a F Body.
350 is a reasonable single purchase core price unless you have to ship it or something.

no, do not do a trans from the truck, i'm pretty sure the tailhousings are different...someone correct me if I'm wrong. To be honest if you want something reliable, look up either www.finishlinetrans.com or hit up performabuilt and get something that will last.

Trust me from experience it pays in the long run

i would but im lookin for a better freeway mileage.

So i ended up buying it. i talked dude down to 300. now since the trans is out of the car i was thinking bout getting a shift kit in it. what do you guys recommend? i was looking in summit ans saw a B&M for 40bucks. is it worth it? also what stall would be good? im currently looking for a Lq4 6.0 or 5.3 going with the C5 zo6 cams, hooker shorties headers, pulleys and Ls6 manifold.(for now) when i save up more later install some heads. but my goal is 505 whp. so what do you guys recommend far as Converts goes for that?
