Default Truck 4L60E on an LS1?

Can I take the tailshaft housing off my 3.8's transmission and put it on a 2WD truck's tranny and make it bolt up to an LS1?

I don't have one yet, but what years would be easiest to yank to make mate up to an LS1?

2001 and up to be on the safe side, that came from behind a 4.8, 5.3, 6.0
As long as it had a LS type converter pilot (easiest ID if sitting on a rack)
If theres no converter the input should have splines to the end, without a smooth pilot at the tip. and obviously a 90 degree (big V6 and V8) bellhousing bolt pattern.
