Default Torque Converter Confusion

Ok... so I guess I am confused about torque converters. I installed a 2800 torque converter on my '95 Z last week. When I am "flashing" the stall, the highest I can get up to is 2100 before the car starts brake rolling. What is the highest the car should get up before it starts to brakeroll?

Thanks!

the stall rating is not what you can foot brake it to....

Typically stalls are rated at what they flash to or what they are when on a trans brake. So you footbrake stall will be considerably lower. It depends on how the converter was designed so there is no exact formula. But your numbers seem to be normal.

Oh... ok. I am getting different responses from my local friends. They don't know what they were talking about then. I feel better now.

It seems pretty much to normal. It also depends on wich stator was used and how well you brakes are.

Man i have that same problem but i have a 3500 and can only stall it to 2400 then it starts to brakeroll, weird that my friends 3500 can be stalled to 3000 without a problem .

Flash stall is nailing it from a stop or such, no brakes.

Brake stall is what your doing by holding the car in place and gassing it. Like mentioned internals of the verter, power and brakes will decide that for you.

Example; My Circle D flashes to 4,200 but I can only get it up to 2,500 on the brakes before they cant hold it back any longer.

Yeah... a couple guys mentioned check my brakes. I changed them in August and maybe put 1000 miles on them since so... I can't imagine that they are screwed up. Although I did take it to the track a couple of times since then

I guess what I need to realize is that the power band in the car has moved. The car seems sluggish in everyday driving situations. At 30-rolls, the car doesn't go like it used to (we all know how good 30-rolls are in these cars), but at 45 mph the car goes pretty good. I just have to get used to the changes. Next... 17x11s, 315 DRs, and a gear!
