Default Which lokar dipstick and tube for 80E conversion?

Hey guys. I am getting all the parts together to do an 80E conversion on my car. I have read all the posts about using the lokar flexible dipstick tube to make it easier, which part # is it exactly that works with the 80E? Summit sells about 40 different lokar tubes so which one is it? Anybody have a part number? Thanks in advance.

I had to custom order mine from Lokar. I think the standard part is 34", but you need one made longer to fit the f-body. I can't remember how much longer though.

I am going to throw in my $.02 here . Try and see if you can use some sort of factory style dipstick and tube assembly if at all possible. The factory style locking dipsticks are much easier to fill and read after filling. All the Lokar flexible dipsticks I have used in the past are a real pain to fill and read.
Just my opinion, go with the factory style if possible!!! I helped a friend install a 4L80E in his Camaro and we ended up shortening up a van 4L80E dipstick and it worked fairly well!!!

If you use a stock style tube and you shorten it won't the level still be wrong since you shortened it from stock?

Remove the same amount from the dipstick as you do the tube.

I agree 100%! I absolutely hate trying to fill with the Lokar. I tried to use a factory one, but boogered it up pretty good, so I bit the bullet and bought the Lokar.

they make two, i thin the longer ones 40 some inches and its way too long. if you go to summit and search 4l80e dipstick it comes up, that where i got mine.
just get the long one and cut it to fit, thats what i did.

If you call Lokar, they will make the proper length dipstick. I know someone on here posted the proper length a while back, but I can't remember who. I have the part #, but it's at my buddy's tranny shop. I'll call him Monday and see if he can find it.

yes they will work. I used this one. Lokar TD34L80FM summit. Not the greatest but i was in a hurry to get it driving(only car at the time). Filling was not hard but tedious. But how often is it used?

I think you can use the 4l60e one they are the same. I have the 24" and it fits perfectly. Not hard to fill at all

the 24" one is wrong you need the longer 36" stick.

the PN is as follows

TD34L80FM36

you can also use a stock one after alot of modifying...this is far easier.

edit: this is in the sticky for the 4L80E swap....

Just went thru this.Got the 24 inch lokar first by accident. It works but had to actually cut the dipstick a bit to get it to go into the tube . Just cut it below the fill marks.
We used long flexible clear tubing that had lying around from old wine making days and put it into the lockar fill metal end. Then held funnel up high ziptied it to hood strut and filled it up. No big deal filling it. And like was said once its right you don't need to be checking it often like oil.

But being **** as next guy I ordered the 36 inch one .Not sure why you need to get a custom one pretty sure the 36 inch one works fine. As for filling reading problems think you do have to wait a bit after filling for the right reading. So just put in some wait a bit and check again. Not a big deal. Stock tubes would for sure be fun in my car its very busy in that corner with nitrous lines, etc.

The lokar part numbers are very similar thats why ordered wrong one it was td34l80fm for the 24 inch one and its td34l80fm36 for the 36 inch one. The 34 part confused me and as said ordered wrong one. Now stuck with it likely unless some guy with rod wants it and pretty sure 4l80 dipsticks are unique to 4l80 dont' think they are same as 4l60 ones.

So for you guys getting custom ones not sure what length you got . The 36 people say fits fine and sticks out enough to be no problem to fill or check.
Any of you guys with 36 inch ones have pics of it mounted in?
