It is on the pass side top of the trans. I don't think it is the problem unless it is all corroaded, The issue is with the torque converter clutch ckt.

yes it is the tcc ckt. Is everything else working ok? could be the tcc solonoid in the trans. The tcc solonoid comes with the internal harness. The control wire from the pcm to the trans is the tan black wire goes to pin t on the trans and comes from pin 42 connector c2 at pcm. Make sure this wire is ok. The pcm grounds this wire to activate the tcc.The power comes from fuse pin e on trans but it is common to all the electronic solonoids in the trans so it seems ok if everything else is working. You could try an ohm meter with the wiring disconnected between t and e on the trans and see if the solonoid wiring is opened or shorted. It should read 21-33 ohms. If it isn't in this range it is prob the tcc solonoid.

Thanks so much for the info, I will try this, and yes this is the only code I am getting (p0740). So you think that if it was the wire that it would be kicking out some other codes to huh? I will let you know what I find out.

Is there a wiring diagram for a 98 so I know what pins to check?

it is the connector on top of the pass side of the transmission. pin E where the pink wire goes and pin T where the (tan and black) wire goes.

send me your email I'll send you the diagram. lucyandchris@shaw.ca

I dropped the pan and checked the ohms at the selonoid itself and the ohms were only 0.14 to 4.56. Does this mean the selonoid is bad?

The TCC solenoid should measure between 18 and 26 ohms typically 22 ohms the numbers you have are to low so I would say you found the problem
