Default tranny ?

just had my 4l60 tranny rebuilt in my 94 ta it ran good for about 2 weeks, went to the track yesterday and right after it shifts into 2nd gear at wot it makes a loud clunking sound and feels like it goes into neutral, and i thought the tranny went out but after i slowed down it started working again, also it made it home so i tried again today and it did the same thing 2 seconds after the 2nd gear shift loud clunking sound and this time fluid came out from somewhere so i pulled over but the tranny started working again but the overdrive would barely move like the e brake was on so i had to drive home in 3rd gear. and i dont know where the fluid came from?

Wow... the EXACT same thing just happened to me... except mine was 1st gear; and no leakage... lots of clinking though and 'she no goee' in any gear after the second time.

All betta soon though... ordered up a new Permabuilt level II... should solve the problem.

But I'd DEFINITELY say that if you just had it rebuilt, someone owes you some serious warranty work.

Good luck witdat... cya @da track.

If I had to guess I think you have an issue with the input sprag due to what you said it does in OD. This needs to freewheel in OD. Vince

sprag it was, busted it somehow,by the time I got to the garage drive and overdrive were out ,they said when they rebuilt it they put new ones but I dont see how they brake so fast , only spraying a 50 shot ,no stall 273 gears so it cant be that hard on a new tranny ?

Depends on several things,
What kinda sprag did they use?
How hard are the shifts? some people think that really hard is best when in fact it just breaks stuff.
And beleave it or not 273 gears are about the hardest there is on a trans ever rode a bike and took off in 10th gear?

Not sure what kind of sprag they used, shifts are mild and does not have a shift kit. I had no idea 273 gears were hard on a tranny, that's a new one on me.

Yes 273 gears are hard on the trans in the same way that starting off on a bike in 10th gear would be on your legs
