Question M6 to 4L80 swap in progress... have a Q about flexplate spacers.

First... I did a search and didnt quite come up with any answers that helped.

Well... today didnt start off too well. Went to install my 4L80 and found out that the cheap *** POS Speed Inc flywheel bolt holes are WAY off and do not line up with my Circle-D 4L80 converter, after a quick search Ive found Im not the only one that has seen this. FWIW the Speed Inc SFI flexplate is nothing more then a rebadged CAT brand flexplate you can find on ebay for half the price, yes I am not happy about it.

So now that I own a worthless Speed Inc SFI cert frisbee I just ordered the TCI flexplate, I should have went with the TCI in the first place. While I was searching here I found other info about a flexplate spacer.... I read about it before I started this swap but from what I gathered I dont think I need it.

Anyways... do I need a spacer? See the info below...

-FLT 4L80E level 4
-TCI Flexplate pn#399754
-Circle-D 4L80E billet converter

Im assuming since I have a 4L80E trans, 4L80E converter, and now a specific flexplate that is designed to go LS1 to 4L80E that I wont need a spacer?.?.?.?

Thanks in advance.

You are correct. You will not need the crank pilot spacer. Your converter was built for your application so you are good to go. Vince

From what I've read the 4L80E converter sits deeper in the bellhousing than the 4L60E converter, hence why you would need the spacer.

Edit: I thought that the Circle D 4L80E converter only had your choice of bolt patterns. Does it also have a choice of depths also?

Not if you are using a custom converter. It is not needed because the converter is built with a ls1 pilot on it. This pilot is longer than what was used in lt1 applications. Vince

Ok. Gotcha. I didn't know they built them with the LS1 pilot, but that makes sense. Good to know for when I do my 4l80E. And thats why you're the man Vince.
