Default Converting from older aluminum pistons in 4l60e?

What is all required to convert to the newer style pistons that sit in the imput drum?

The reason I ask is the older aluminum style piston cracked on me and I need to replace it, any help appreciated.

To go to the newer molded steel piston design you need to replace the piston return spring cage with the later style. The old aluminum pistons have little towers to align the spring cage new pistons are flat so the new spring cage is enclosed on top and bottom. pm me if you need any help with finding some pistons or spring cage.

If you get a sleeved input drum you have to run the aluminum pistons. Fortunately Sonnax just released a billet forward piston which I bet is the one you cracked. If it's just for mild DD duty you need the molded forward and overrun pistons and return spring cage like Transamsixspeed said. You should already have the molded 3/4 piston.
