What are you stalling the car up to? Does it have a T Brake. Is this a NA stall or nitrous stall. You gears in your rear are to high dam. What size of tire are you running?

Yes, we need more info. A quick guess is you need more stall. Might be able to fix the one you already have. Answer dnkynrbk's questions and we can help more.

The car is a footbrake car. NA stall. I brought it up to 2400 and 2700. It wanted to push through the brakes after that.

tires are 28"
4.30 gears are to high????? need what numerically lower or higher?

How much rpm do you turn. Have you checked your tune, fuel pressure etc,.If so you might need to losen it up a bit but with that gear and tire with a 275 low a 5000 should work pretty decent. If the sprague in the converter is not holding this could be your problem. You said you shifted it at 5000 then the converter should have never met complete coupling phase yet. I would go over the tune up before I condemed the converter.!!! my .02

I took it out today and pulled the trans apart also. Everything looks clean and great. I found a issue but I don't really know if this will cause it totally.

Forward clutch clearance was around .070
Direct clutch clearance was around .065

The car ran and pulled but if that is too loose which by tolerances it is would that cause the car to run but in a way slip the clutches.

They where not hot or burnt looking. They where clean and you can read all numbers and raybestos on the clutches.
